blogger prompt week 9/10

How do you celebrate Maori Language Week in your class/school? the school did a challenge by having a maori word every day and you had to translate. Why is this an important week to New Zealand? In the last 200 years the history of the Māori language (te reo Māori) has been one of ups and downs. At the beginning of the 19th century it was the predominant language spoken in Aotearoa/New Zealand. As more English speakers arrived in New Zealand, the Māori language was increasingly confined to Māori communities. By the mid-20th century there were concerns that the language was dying out. How does New Zealand celebrate Maori Language Week?   Maori  Language  Week  ( Maori : Te Wiki o te Reo  Maori ) is a government- sponsored initiative intended to encourage New Zealanders to promote the use of  Maori  language.  Maori , English and  New Zealand  Sign Language are the official national ... for their first match ...

My Whanno story

My whanau story It all started as a usual day at the Webb family house. The two children were outside while the parents were inside having a hot drink. Suddenly the wind whipped up and started to blow. The parents who must have realised that a powerful storm was coming quickly called the children inside. As the children were running back to the house they heard thunder crack across the deathly black sky. Suddenly the sky unleashed its torrents of rain upon the poor children from the deathly black clouds. Then the rain turned to hail the size of tennis balls and pelted down on the poor children like bullets from a gun. The children ran so fast it looked as if they were flying. In seconds the children were inside by the fire safe from the hail. The family was worried about the animals but the animals were smart enough to huddle up against the shelterbelts (pine trees) along the...

Perhaps not…But I have… 2. So today I am here to tell you about three endangered animals in particular. They are the Bengal tiger, the mountain gorilla and the Amur leopard. But before I tell you about them, let’s talk about how they’re losing their habitat. 3. Humans such as us are destroying their habitat for resources of our own, but should we be taking their habitat, their home. Why can’t we leave them alone? Why should we take what is theirs and make it ours. It’s like taking candy from a baby, it’s cruel. Why can’t we grow our own trees instead of taking theirs? 4 And poachers…poachers take hundreds of en...
